Kimberton Waldorf School alumni enrich the world around them. We are proud to shine a spotlight on some of our alumni to showcase their stories, career development, interests, accomplishments, and milestones.
This month's featured alumni spotlight is Jonathan Yatsky '09, Admissions Intern at Kimberton Waldorf School.
Upon graduation from Kimberton Waldorf School, Jonathan went to Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. He graduated with a degree in Psychology, with a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies. While at Guilford, Jonathan worked as a circulation technician at the school library during the day, and in the evening could often be found cooked up lavish feast for large groups of friends.
During his college years, Jonathan volunteered in the school districts outside of Philadelphia, working with underprivileged kids. His experience watching them struggle with education and lackluster teaching styles became the inspiration for his psychology thesis. He developed his thesis around different types of teaching styles and its effect on children, and found that children who are treated and taught in a nurturing, loving way are much more likely to feel better about themselves, ask more questions, and be more likely to be successful.
With a new appreciation for his own schooling, he was happy to return to Kimberton Waldorf School to make a difference for the faculty, staff, and children. Jonathan is busy preparing for graduate school this fall at Delaware Valley College’s Counseling Psychology Program.
