Our lunch program creates locally grown and organic lunches for the children and adults in the Kimberton Waldorf School Community in a beautiful family environment. We constantly seek out the freshest produce in our area. We serve traditional foods as well as ethnically diverse dishes in order to satisfy an array of taste preferences.
Our small staff is aided by many generous volunteers including guest chefs. Our main source of fresh vegetables and fruits is our own organic School Garden! We also rely on our local CSA's and Farms for fresh produce. In addition, the biodynamic yogurt, cream and milk we use are locally produced as well as our organic whole grain bread and pizza dough. Through a natural cycle, we take nourishment from the garden and give back organic compost. Our students in Kindergarten and grades 1-5 eat lunch in their classrooms. Our delicious food is delivered by a member of our kitchen team, either staff or volunteer. Our students in grades 6 to 12 enjoy lunch at tables dressed with beautiful handmade tablecloths adorned with seasonal flowers. The children participate by harvesting and washing the produce, managing the compost, cleaning the tables and returning the dishes to the kitchen.
We have recently made a commitment to continue the giving that began in the school Garden by taking prepared food to the Food Pantry at St Peter's Church in Phoenixville. This is one way we can share our wholesome lunches with those that are in need of better nourishment.
