Dear Kimberton Waldorf Community,
I'm writing to share with you the success of The Seven Stars Shop! We had a very successful year in our new location. Last year we were able to downsize significantly to make room for the new Handwork room and reopen in a large closet in the gymnasium lobby! It was a challenge, but the new store is small and beautiful and still able to carry many of the same Waldorf essentials as the old store did. We were in a great location for KWS's annual Craft Fair in December and made quite a profit. (Once we have enough inventory, all profits will be given to the school.) We were also able to be open for school-wide events such as the basketball tournament, community dinners, Advent Teas, May Faire, assemblies and the fifth grade Pentathlon, and served as a last-minute stop for birthday gifts, weekend projects and school supplies.
For those of you who are new to the school, you may be wondering what the Seven Stars Shop is. The Seven Stars Shop is an all-volunteer run store for the purpose of supporting and serving the Kimberton Waldorf School community. The Shop carries books of all sorts for the natural-minded family, art supplies, children's natural and imaginative toys, biodynamic herbal products, craft kits and handwork supplies, gemstones, and beautiful handmade items. For the coming school year, the hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday after school (2:45 to 3:30) and Friday mornings during the coffee cart (8:00-9:30). Our hope is to be able to be open every day after school as more volunteers join our team.
The first day we will be open this year is before and after the Rose Ceremony on Friday, September 5th. We are excited to announce that this year we will have KWS retro sweatshirts, T-shirts, and beanies in both adult and child sizes. We will also have KWS car magnets. As an opening day special, if you buy something from our new apparel line, you get a KWS car magnet for free. Stop by and check them out!
The purpose of this letter is to not only give you some information about the Shop, but to also ask for your help on a few things:
o Are you an artisan who may have some items you'd like to consign?
o Are you someone who is good with a sewing machine and could make some specific items for the store? (I have a few things in mind as well as some customer requests)
o Would you like to join our team of volunteers for the school store?
o Is there something you would like to see carried in our store? One of our best sellers of last year was Seccorell Shading Sticks (which can make a Main Lesson book look beautiful in a matter of minutes!). This was carried because of a request from two teachers (thank you, Sally Boyd and Anna Zay!).
If you answered “yes” to any of the questions above, please e-mail me at . In conclusion, I'd like to thank everyone who supported the Seven Stars Shop last year. By doing your shopping at our school store you are not only supporting our school, but more importantly you are supporting our children and our community.

P.S. We plan to place a (discounted) group woolens order in the fall. Be sure to watch for information in the Midweek Messenger.
