Girl’s Cross Country Team Wins League Championship
On Tuesday, November 1st, The Kimberton Waldorf School Varsity Girls’ Cross Country Team, headed up by Coach Heather Devine, won the Tri-County League Championships.
This is the first league championship for Kimberton in 5 years (the last was in 2011 with the 2010-11 Varsity Girls’ Basketball team). The schools in attendance at the meet included all of the schools who compete in Cross Country across the TCISL: Kimberton Waldorf School, The Perkiomen School, The Woodlynde School, The Phelps School, AIM Academy, Barrack Hebrew Academy, Renaissance Academy, Collegium Charter School, and Delaware Valley Friends School.
Kimberton won 1st place with a total combined score of 17 points with three girls coming in the top ten and receiving medals!
Junior Anna Sheik was 4th with a time of 23:19, and Freshman Anna Devine came in 5th with a time of 23:54. Senior Kayla Franklin (who is also on the soccer team) ran in her 3rd race of the season for us, and came in 8th with a time of 24:37. The top three runners constitute the final winning team score, but we also had Sophomore and Exchange Student, Marie Deichmann, who placed 17th with a time of 26:52. Junior Lucy Thimme came in 27th with a time of 29:21.
We did not have enough boys to constitute a boys team, but we’d like to give a shout out to Senior James Overstreet (Team Captain and 4 year veteran XC runner), who came in 55th out of the boys with a time of 25:11. We will miss you next year when you go to college, James!
Congratulations to all! Go Kimberton!
